Timothy Anderson founded World Computer Exchange in 1999 while in a conversation with one of the conference keynote speakers, Fernando Reimers who is a member of our International Advisory Council along with Ed Gragert. WCE Field Associates include 3 iEARN Country Coordinators: Eliada Gudza, Leroy Beldeh, and Sounkalo Dembele. They selected teachers and students to work with teachers and students outside of Africa to help us begin to co-develop our project to inspire girls to pursue careers in technology. He attended prior iEARN international conferences in Senegal and Canada.
Over the years World Computer Exchange has shipped low-cost refurbished computers loaded with content to iEARNs in the following 10 countries: Cameroon, Dominican Republic, Liberia, Macedonia, Mali, Pakistan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We have computers ready to ship to iEARN-Palestine but have had difficulty getting them there. WCE hired iEARN to provide training to WCE partner organizations in the Dominican Republic.
World Computer Exchange has provided computers to 3,350 schools in 48 developing countries connecting 4.7 million youth over the years.
Timothy also founded and managed for 5 years a project-based K-12 charter school and for 7 years managed a couple of zoos.
