This session is associated with a UN SDG!
This session relates to the Action Research Learning Circles iEARN Project!
Session Description
Learning is a joyful activity and when you make your place of work into your place of learning, every day holds engaging surprises. Action Research is a form of inquiry that involves taking action and understanding the outcomes from actions. iEARN teachers know how to take action. Action research adds to this action a process of learning from actions, understanding how and why change takes place. Come join other teachers who have been in Learning Circles to engage in action research. Some are just beginning and others have been working for many years. Together we will share both how to become action researchers and why you might want to do that.
What will educators learn and be able to do at the end of the session?
Goals:
Acquire a better understanding of what is involved in conducting action research
Learn from the work that iearn teachers have been creating
Be able to find and read work of peers on the iearn action research website
Consider joining an action research learning circle
Additional Session Information
We will begin with a description of what action research is and how to learn more about the process. Then we will have some round tables with action researchers sharing their work in short 8 minute sessions. Participants will be able to move around picking 3 sessions from the list. At the end we will invite participants to think about becoming involved in the process.
Session Resources
Professional Learning through Action Research
The action research tutorials provide a set of self-paced learning tools to learn how to do action research. It is always best to do action research with others so that you can think with them as you work through your process.
