Session Description
This session will ask some big questions, such as what will happen if we don't solve our ecological issues on earth. How do we go about colonizing Mars? This will be a fun session to think creatively and decide what can we do on our planet, and what would we want to recreate on Mars?
The more time goes by, the more confident scientists get talking about ecological problems that are global scaled which destroy our planet, but what can we do about it? What are our chances for survival? And what does Mars have to do when our home planet is the number one priority? We normally think how to save what we have instead of thinking about something that we don’t have... but what if we were wrong the whole time? What if cosmos is the only answer and Mars might be needed more than we think?
We have to admit, it was silly: Mars has way less favorable conditions, that cannot be argued, but it isn’t as easy as it seems. Earth is a hard system and all regions are in constant interference with one another. We might be able to change climate in one region, but then it will affect the others.
What will youth learn and be able to do at the end of the session?
The nature itself makes us realize that we, the people, are nearly nothing in comparison to the whole planet. All the enormously scary cataclysms, such as earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan, which happen almost every month all around the globe do show us that just a simple volcano eruption could lead to extinction of the whole humane race. However, the only species being extinct in most cases will be only human beings. For example, even if the world ocean level will raise up to ten centimeters, all the reptiles will not even see any changes in their daily routine, at the same time people, who live in cities like Miami or London will have big problems, such as floods, destruction of the buildings and so on.
